We are excited to be dipping our toes in the water and trialling this brand new 'pink' product in the UK market. We love investing in new game-changer products, and our latest venture is no exception - it's a female urinal made by Lapee.

We think that these urinals for women will become a game-changer for gender equality at popular sporting events as well as music festival experiences.

Even peeing is becoming political. In the longer term we think that ladies urinals will be more commonplace and put to an end women feeling they have to wait until they get home to pee.

What's more, they will be cost-effective and shorten queues too - bonus! We'll get to all that later.

Queuing for the loo at an outdoor music festival

Admittedly, it does take a bit of time to get your head around a female urinal, because it is a radically different approach. But, in actual fact, perhaps not so radical as many ladies prefer to "hover" when faced with using a toilet outside the home environment. The inventors of these ladies urinals also maintain they help to reduce long loo queues. We think that they may be right too. That is because the male equivalent  - such as our 4-bay "Pee Pod" urinal - do significantly reduce waiting in lines for conventional portable toilets. And, as mentioned above, if males have the 4-bay Pee Pod, why shouldn't women also have the equivalent Lapee? Same thing, different gender!

Besides, 90% of all-purpose, mixed-gender, portable toilet queues at festivals are women lining up to pee. I bet you didn't know that did you? That's why we think this product might be a real game-changer. For ladies, it may very well be the most luxurious thing in the world - to have a toilet that is pee-only! What's more, a ladies pee-only urinal station will be much more hygienic, and so much more practical too. There's a giant #genderinclusion box ticked, too.

The side walls specifically prevent women from seeing each other, or more importantly, from being seen from the outside. Two small steps and you're in so it's easy access. The walls act as hand-rails to squat or get up and out. Their bright pink colour makes them easy to spot and distinctively female-friendly. Women's urinals in the city is explored further in this excellent HuffPost blog.

Lapee in action

Recent trials at music festivals in Europe have been very positive. The Lapee female urinal station uses a spiral design to create privacy. It allows women to sit or squat and to see their surroundings while peeing - thus, feeling safe. Up to 3-women can use it at the same time.

The co-founder, 25-year old Gina Périer says, it is the first female urinal of its kind!

When it comes to working out their cost-benefit, we believe that the cost-saving in overall Portable Toilet hire alone is a clear justification. For example, one 4-bay male urinal means four less Portable Toilets to hire. And as 90% of event toilet queues are ladies the sums stack up.

We have just ordered a batch of these, and we've already sold our very first Lapee female urinal -  drum roll, please. The Lapee unit goes to one of our event hire customers. The company supplies significant sporting events such as the ladies marathon in Dublin. So, we hope it goes well and that our ladies only urinal station will flush with success (get it?) - here's to more orders.

Technically, behind the scenes, Lapee units can daisy-chain together too. - channelling waste urine to a suitable sewer or to a larger single collection tank that can be emptied remotely from the urinal units. That means the urinals can be in continuous use, with no downtime for emptying either. Disposing of waste from events is a big headache for any event manager especially when it comes to ladies peeing (as mentioned above). Therefore, this waste sanitation solution is a significant benefit at any large sporting event or music festival.

We, at Plastic Solutions (Aldridge) Ltd, manufacture and supply a range of flat ground-based tanks, just perfect for collecting large volumes of urine. For example, our 1000-Gallon Tuff Tank does the job nicely.

The Lapee is so new to us; it doesn't yet feature on our website, and we do understand that you might very well need further convincing (as did we). So, please contact us directly; we will be delighted to discuss our rationale with you.

We do, however, believe that fortune favours the brave;  so join us, to make this ground-breaking product leap forward and become an enormous success for your 2020 outdoor event too. As already mentioned, we have stock now.
